Photo Dump

I promised you some pictures from my trip, so here you go!
(Warning, these are in no particular order, and they are just a FEW of the photos I took...)

Vaca Recap

I will try to keep this short, since I know hearing about my 9 days of vacation won't really be that exciting for any of you.
So here's the basics:

Saturday Feb 16 and Sunday Feb 17: Driving... and driving and driving. From Fall City to Anaheim. Got all checked into our accomodations (the floor of the Anaheim United Methodist Church... real classy for us!)

Monday Feb 18 and Tuesday Feb 19: Two full days at Disneyland and California Adventure. LOTS of walking, running, and waiting in line.

Wednesday Feb 20: The kids performed for Disney Performing Arts on the Hollywood Backlot Stage. They did amazing, even though the wind picked up and started blowing their music pages all over. Then we closed the park out.

Thursday Feb 21: Spent the day at Knott's Berry Farm.

Friday Feb 22: All day at Universal Studios.

Saturday Feb 23 and Sunday Feb 24: Two days driving back home again... tempers were running high, so we were all SUPER stoked to get home.

Now, for my review of the different parks... such as favorite rides:

Disneyland:
Space Mountain: This may have been my favorite ride there... the fact that it's all dark in there and you can't really tell where the tracks are going makes it fun.
Pirates of the Caribbean: The effects and animatronics (or whatever they are) on this ride are INCREDIBLE.
Splash Mountain: This is probably a runner up. It was fun, but I sat in the front, and got COMPLETELY soaked. I had to buy a new shirt. Some of the kids on the trip went on it 20+ times in a row. Fools.
Matterhorn: I think this was my least favorite. It was really uncomfortable and jerky.

California Adventure:
Radiator Springs Racers: This is the new Cars ride and the line was two hours long most of the time, and for good reason. SO MUCH FUN.
Tower of Terror: I have never screamed so much in my life. This was another ride that we went on multiple times.
California Screamin': As far as roller coasters go, it's pretty dang fun.
Soarin Over California: This one is a lot of fun, but makes you a little dizzy. But it's awesome how it will show you flying over orange groves and they import orange scents.

Knott's Berry Farm:
The Xcellerater: Um, this ride is NUTS. It goes from 0 to 82 in about 2 seconds. It's a short ride, but by the time you get off you don't know anything about your life anymore, haha.
Silver Bullet: This is the one that they show in the commercials and whatnot. Where your legs dangle and you go upside down and whatnot. A lot of fun.
La Revolucion: This didn't look like it would be all that fun, but it was!

Universal Studios:
Transformers 3D: This is another new ride. The creativity these people have when it comes to designing a ride is NUTS.
The Simpsons: Another 3D ride where you feel like you're part of what is going on in the screen in front of you.
Backlot Tour: This is cool because it takes you back around to real movie/TV sets. We saw the Bates Motel, Wisteria Lane, and lots of other cool places.
Animal Actors show: They bring out lots of animals that are featured in movies and TV shows and they do tricks and all sorts of cool stuff.

That's it friends. Those are my favorite rides and attractions. Check 'em out!

I'll probably be back tomorrow to post pictures!

I'm baaaaccckkk!!!

From this horendous bell choir trip that I agreed to chaperone.
9 days. 14 children. 4 amusement parks. MANY hours of driving.

But I survived it.
Did I enjoy MOST of the trip? Absolutely.
Will I even chaperone this group of kids again? NEVER.

I will be back tomorrow with a short recap (or as short as I can cram 9 days into a blog post) and some pictures.

As for the almost 1000 blogs I have to read, I may just have to "mark all as read" and start fresh. Ain't nobody got time to read that many blog posts.

Good News

As Chad and I are sitting here watching Happy Gilmore before bed, Chad told me he could never lie to girls and say that I was killed after falling off a cliff.

This IS comforting...

Eek!

Time is flying by for me lately! I didn't realize how long it had been since I've spent any time online until I logged into Google Reader and found a shocking 658 unread blog posts.
Jesus H. Sorry guys.

Things that have been keeping be distracted include (but are not limited to):

*FINALLY finishing painting in our master bedroom, and moving stuff into my new closet
*Getting ready to leave for Disneyland on Saturday morning. Tomorrow's my last day of work before my vacation officially starts!
*Talking a LITTLE bit about future wedding plans. Apparently it doesn't freak Chad out QUITE as much as when we first got engaged.
*Playing Angry Birds on my IPad.

It's the truth friends, that is what has kept me away from my laptop. Pathetic, I know.
However, I still managed to find some time to Pin some fun stuff...

I hope everybody is having a good week!

Reviving My Social Life

For those of you who weren't aware, I'm not a very social person.
I know it may seem like I am, what with the HUNDREDS of facebook friends I have and all (ha), but I most of the time I really don't care to be around people.

It's not that I DON'T have friends that I like to spend time with, it's just that sometimes it's so damn hard to find time to do stuff together.
My idea of a fun night with my friends is staying in, drinking, playing games, or watching movies together. Or in the summer time, floating the river, barbecuing, and having a bonfire.

Unfortunately, a lot of my friends are MUCH more people oriented than myself, so they like to go out to bars or parties.

However, I have decided that I need to try a little harder to spend time with MY friends (as opposed to Chad's friends, who I see much more often, oddly enough). I am going to get a little pushier with my friends and say "hey, I want to get some coffee and catch up" until they have no choice but to agree (you'll be my friends whether you like it or not, damn it!).

So far so good... I spent Thursday evening having dinner with my bffl Kristine and our friend Chelsea (well, mostly her friend that I've become friends with over the years), and then today I had lunch with my friend Morgan and her fiance and son.

So far so good!

Disney bound!

Well my friends, I am coming to you for some advice about this little trip I have coming up in the next couple weeks.

You can bet your sweet tush I'm talking about the Magic Kingdom!
Unfortunately, the reason I am going to Disneyland is to chaperone the trip with the younger bell choir at my church. This means MANY hours all crammed into a 15 passenger van. And the ages range from I think 6th grade all the way up to seniors in high school, plus myself and my friend Angela (who's in her 20s) and our director (whose age will NOT be disclosed on this blog).

So, what I want to find out from you guys is
A) what kind of car games do you recommend that will be entertaining for people of all ages
B) Any specific eateries you recommend inside the Disney parks, or around them (we're staying at a church in Anaheim, so we'll need lots of ideas!)
C) Any "experiences" you think I NEED to do? This may be the only time I get to go as an adult so I want to make it worth it!

Thanks for the tips kids, I appreciate it!

My Thoughts on the Super Bowl

I know I can't be the only person who was SO STOKED that the Ravens won yesterday, right?
Chykie Brown is CLEARLY on the same page as me.

Honestly, it's not like I'm a huge Ravens fan in general, but I think Ray Lewis and his bionic arm really needed this win in order for him to be able to retire without regrets.

Plus I think Colin Kaepernick and Jim Harbough are both assholes.
Kaepernick is just SUCH a tool...
Good thing he loves himself so damn much... God knows nobody else does... douche.

And Jim Harbaugh is so dang angry at life (and I've heard he's not a very nice person in general, but what do I know?)
Oh Jim, I'm really glad this is one of the first pictures that shows up on Google when your name is searched for...

Anyways, we watched the game at our house this year and borrowed Dustin's TV, since he didn't want to carry our monster HDTV up from the basement (since it definitely isn't one of the fancy slim ones... it weighs as much as Chad's gun safe), and I made salmon dip, nachos, and pizza and booze.

Too bad I ate WAY too much bad food and ended up throwing up before the night was over... I only had 2 drinks too. Ugh... my own damn fault for overindulging I suppose.

Anyways, now the countdown is on for the Seahawks season to start again. Can't hardly wait!

The Seance

So I'm a little late linking up today, but I guess it's better late than never. Since I got off work early and I'm waiting for Chad to come home so we can be domestic and go grocery shopping, I figured I better write my post up now before I miss my chance!

The Seance by John Harwood

Constance Langton grows up in a household marked by death, her father distant, her mother in perpetual mourning for Constance's sister, the child she lost. Desperate to coax her mother back to health, Constance takes her to a seance: perhaps she will find comfort from beyond the grave. But the meeting has tragic consequences. Constance is left alone, her only legacy a bequest that will blight her life.

So begins The Seance, John Harwood's brilliant second novel, a gripping gothic thriller set late in Victorian England. It is a world of apparitions, of disappearances and unnatural phenomena, of betrayal and blackmail and black-hearted villains - and murder. For Constance's bequest comes in two parts: a house and a mystery. Years before, a family disappeared at Wraxford Hall, a decaying mansion in the English countryside with a sinister reputation. Now the Hall belongs to Constance. And she must descend into the darkness at the heart of the Wraxford Mystery to find the truth, even at the cost of her life.

The only reason I read this book was because a) it was on clearance sale at Barnes and Noble for, like, $1.50 and b) my mom was paying :)
But it did grab my attention because it has that sort of eerie ghost story appeal, which is something that I do enjoy.
I ended up REALLY liking it. It has so many plot twists... everytime you get into one portion of the mystery, another complication comes up.
I do think that the ending leaves a LITTLE something to be desired. You expect this big, supernatural outcome, but then it ends up being something completely scientific.

I give it 3 out of 5 stars. Good book, entertaining and engaging, but leaves something to be desired.
