Disney Channel Original Movies

Boob Tube Babble

This week for my Boob Tube Babble post, I want to share with you some of my favorite original Disney Channel movies!

This movie started it all off for me. It came out when I was in 6th grade and I was immediate in love. Back then, I was the chunky girl who had friends, but was definitely NOT popular. So I was scared to talk about how much I loved this movie because I thought for sure I would be made fun of. Lo and behold, a few weeks later, all the popular girls were obsessed with it too and I just wanted to slap them and be like "Bitches, I found it FIRST!!!"

Ah, that stringy hair... the athleticism... what is there to NOT love about Erik Von Detten in this movie? This wasn't one of my faves, but I definitely watched it a couple hundred times.

Oh hey Katherine Heigl! You and your scrunchies and fat heeled shoes in this movie were the SHIT back in the 90s. And then when you swapped places with your nerdy little sister and you had to live her life? OMG, hilarious!

We all know this is when we fell in love with Ryan Merriman. He went on to star in more made for TV movies (hello Luck of the Irish), but clearly his most important role has been as Ian in Pretty Little Liars.

Ah yes, the movies that made every girl want to be a surfer or a snowboarder.

Last but not least, The Color of Friendship. This movie was pretty dang intense. The educational value was GOOD.

There are so many other great Disney Channel Movies that I would love to delve into but, alas, I don't have the time.
Do you have any favorites??

UMMMMM, minus the Tsunami movie these were my favorites too! My sisters and I would watch them whenever they were on. Seriously we would get in fights with our parents because we wanted to watch it 'one more time' and they would say, no you've already seen it.

Great great picks!

Ahhhhhh! I LOVE this post! Brink was by far my favorite back in the day. Oh goodness did I have a crush on Erik Von Denton (he may have followed Jonathan Taylor Thomas in my long line of little girl celebrity crushes). Smart House was awesome too- Favorite part the boys doing the dance to Five's "Slam Dunk Da Funk".

EEK! We must have a slumber party friend with all of these movies in tow. I definitely have Smart House and Wish upon a star. I emailed Disney about Rip Girls (They don't have any plans to release unfortunately) and Johnny Tsunami did only come out on VHS. I must get my mitts on a copy. Also in recent years, they came out with a sequel to Johnny Tsunami, called Back on Board-it is on netflix, and Jason and I definitely watched it the other day :) NO big deal?
